Victorian Christmas stocking (shortened)

short Christmas victorian stockingshort Christmas victorian stocking

Now here is a lovely stocking. With just the judicious use of thread applied in the right places, you create the illusion of a whole heck of a lot more in depth embroidery work than was actually done.

And honestly, as lovely as the floral work is (and it truly is) if you are not up to the additional work, you can leave it off. The main trick is to get the toe and boot trim finished as that is what will offset those sections from the rest of the Christmas stocking.

All in all, really a nice Christmas stocking, particularly for adults who like to hang a Christmas stocking, but do not necessarily want or need the full standard 18 inches to have to fill with all types of silly little stuffers from all around the house.

I really like the smaller Christmas stocking. I was not sure at first, as with my stocking obsession, I usually like to see full sized, but the more I see these, the more they have grown on me.

I also love the idea of making a number of stockings in this size to keep around and on the tree. They would be perfect to keep on the tree and near the kitchen to pack with warm cookies and quick kitchen presents for people that stop without a lot of advanced warning.

Plus, they are just darned cute.

Christmas throw pillow

If this is not my very favorite embroidery pillow yet, it is right up there. I love the variety of different symbols used to represent each different letter in the word Christmas.

And so that you can see the detail better, you can click on the picture to see it up close.

Honestly, this is the type of thing that I would not waste on just a simple pillow. I would put this all over lots of things, but my preference is on clothing. I would love to put this right across a favorite sweater so that I can wear it over and over through the holiday season.

I suppose I could make it on warm comfortable sweatshirts so that my friends that brave the masses during the Black Friday shopping madness would have something adorable to wear.

This is just a perfect example of something wonderful on one craft that can be expanded to a zillion other places and a million other ideas. Have fun with it. Run with it. Take it and make it yours.

Hanukkah embroidered throw pillow

Hanukkah pillow

I have not posted my favorite felt embroidered pillows lately, so I figured I would today. And while I am a little late posting to get this done before Hanukkah began this year, if you are a fast worker, technically it would be possible to get it finished before the end of Hanukkah.

I do love the menorah and the way the felt has been cut and sewn on to replicate the look of melting wax. It is a really nice detail. I have made the photo clickable so that you can see the detail work on the pillow. It is nicely done, and I figure if you are going to try to get one done before the end of the eight days, you are going to need to be able to see the details.

Star Wars ornaments

Oh I wish I knew the name of the Etsy seller that made these! Someone sent me the picture in my email and I just fell over laughing. My Mister would probably love these (well, maybe. I do not know if he geeked out that far yet, but it is possible). Personally, I found them just too precious for words.

And I figure they actually would not be too hard to make yourself if you just could not find the seller on Etsy. You can find the general outline of Darth Vader and the Imperial Stormtroopers just about everywhere. Plus, you can just look closely at the photo for the general outline of the embroidery.

If I ever find the seller, great job! These are a freaking riot.

9 snowman embroidered pillow

Not everyone wants a Christmas tree or Santa Claus proudly adorning their living rooms throughout the winter season this year. It is nice to have other embroidered options available to make for yourself or to gift to others.

Here in America (although certainly not in the ghastly hot state of Georgia where the heat never ends and the drought goes on and on, even after our great and mighty elected Governor Purdue stepped up to address the problem… by asking us all to pray. For rain. But moving on.) the secular Christmas holiday season is accompanied by images, not only of Christmas trees and Santas, but snowmen and other wonders. And that is just what this pillow is chock full of - nine wonderful variations of Frosty Snowmen.

Oh, I have so many examples of embroidery for the Christmas season. You are going to be tired of seeing them! But that is ok. I will keep showing them anyway.

Mary Engelbreit’s Believe, in embroidery

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

If you like Christmas posters and the like, then you know Mary Engelbreit’s artwork entitled Believe. Personally, it is probably one of the only bits of hers that I really enjoy. And I do really like this particular piece.

Mary Engelbreit's Believe poster

And since I love it so much, let us translate it into an embroidery pillow for the holiday season.

A little embroidery. A little felt. A little imagination. A lot of patience and a little creativity and we have a perfect gift for the occasion for anyone (like me) that just loves the idea and the concept behind the original artwork itself.

Maybe you might consider taking the time to put one together before Christmas this year? What a wonderful gift this would make for someone, would not you agree?

last of the thanksgiving throw pillows

This is the end, no more Thanksgiving pillows.

Nice simple embroidery. Good solid work. I love how the felt was stuffed just a little to make a slightly three dimensional look on the turkey feathers and the pumpkin.

thanksgiving pillow

And with this pillow, we are but one away from reaching the end of my stockpile of embroidery suggestions for the Thanksgiving holiday throw pillow suggestions. Which actually I think is pretty good because after a while, how many freaking turkey pillows can one house stand to have? One. One pillow.

As with all the others, I just cannot see this as a little pillow. Were I to have these in my house, they would have to be significantly oversized to make them doable. That is the only way I could see enjoying them. But nonetheless, the work is still lovely.

Embroidered heart shaped Thanksgiving pillow

embroidered thanksgiving pillow

Almost done with the Thanksgiving pillows. This is one of the last entries. The devil is in the details of the work, but at least the shape is changing.

I would still do this in a much larger size than normal throw pillows just for interest sake. It would be more fun that way.

Another entry into the Thanksgiving throw pillow gift possibilities. I think this is my favorite honestly, because for once, it does not have a turkey front and center. I like to see the cornucopia as it gets back to the whole celebrate the harvest feast and the fullness of the crops and the harvest.

Click to see the details of the pillow itself. There are a lot of embellishments used on this particular little number.
