fleece high heeled Christmas stocking boots

fleece high heeled Christmas stocking boot

Every time I see these, I want to experiment with them. I think that the fleece might not be quite as forgiving as the felt that I have gotten so into the habit of working with, but I think that might just be a good thing actually. It is nice to branch out.

And branching out in the midst of my Christmas stocking collection is always appropriate; particularly when that branching out takes me away from the ever onward march of the ubiquitous felt fabric. Love it as I do, even I am getting weary of it.

This is just a basic stocking to duplicate. Nothing particularly fancy. The shape is pretty stocking standard (with a little kicky difference in the heels which makes the personality in this particular design). You can always enlarge the photo significantly and use that to cut out your fabric if you felt like you needed a hand with the basic shape.

Also, the cuff is getting easier to find in the trim section of the fabric store. The nice thing about these is that they are being sold just as is by the yard. All you need do is purchase and sew it right on to the stocking. This goes for so many of the big cuff trims that are out there now a days. Goodness it makes stocking sewing so much easier!

Hankie Christmas stocking

hankie stocking

I love this! Here is another way to use the brightly colored handkerchiefs that are left over from Grandma’s stash of hankies (if you are not actually using them as hankies). And if you are lucky enough to actually find real hankies in the store, you can grab the brightly colored visual eye candy to carry out this type of stocking delight.

I love the use of heavy fleece fabric for the stocking body. Nice and simple, but then using the brightly colored pop of a Christmas handkerchief for the POP of the cuff. What a fantastic way to offset the plain color of the rest of the stocking. The combination really makes the whole stocking sing.

Victorian Christmas stocking (shortened)

short Christmas victorian stockingshort Christmas victorian stocking

Now here is a lovely stocking. With just the judicious use of thread applied in the right places, you create the illusion of a whole heck of a lot more in depth embroidery work than was actually done.

And honestly, as lovely as the floral work is (and it truly is) if you are not up to the additional work, you can leave it off. The main trick is to get the toe and boot trim finished as that is what will offset those sections from the rest of the Christmas stocking.

All in all, really a nice Christmas stocking, particularly for adults who like to hang a Christmas stocking, but do not necessarily want or need the full standard 18 inches to have to fill with all types of silly little stuffers from all around the house.

I really like the smaller Christmas stocking. I was not sure at first, as with my stocking obsession, I usually like to see full sized, but the more I see these, the more they have grown on me.

I also love the idea of making a number of stockings in this size to keep around and on the tree. They would be perfect to keep on the tree and near the kitchen to pack with warm cookies and quick kitchen presents for people that stop without a lot of advanced warning.

Plus, they are just darned cute.

Footed pajamas for adults

footed pajamas for adults

This is absolutely not a handmade item, nor is it an inexpensive gift, but it is an adorable gift and an oh so comfortable gift. Yes, we own them. And yes, every time they are worn and seen around our house, someone inevitably asks where they were found. As a result, I have learned to keep the information close at hand.

There is just something about recapturing the comfort of your childhood by wearing the warmth and fuzziness of a footed sleeper. It is fantastic. Yes, hot as the dickens, but wonderful nonetheless. I bought one as a Christmas present for my Mister when we lived in London. He complained nonstop about freezing to death at night. I thought it was a right hilarious joke. He thought his throat would have to be cut before he wore it. However, on nights when the thermometer dipped below freezing literally, I noticed it was pulled out of hiding to keep warm.

If you have a prankster in the family that might appreciate the return to childhood, this would make an incredible Christmas present. Yes, the price tag can get hefty, particularly when you add up the cost of multiple outfits to make an entire family match.

Around my house, I started a tradition long ago. Everyone that stays the night on Christmas Eve gets new Christmas pajamas for good looking pictures on Christmas morning. However, you have to open them Christmas Eve and wear them. I was thinking about getting everyone footed pajamas this year for those that will wake up in our house on Christmas morning. My problem is that I wonder how much I would have to pay my Mister to actually go through with it. We are still in the midst of a drought here in hot Georgia state, so I cannot exactly count on the cold weather to get him to cooperate this time around. I might have to start spiking the egg nog early. Early and strong. It could be my only hope.

Christmas embroidery throw pillow

Christmas throw pillow

If this is not my very favorite embroidery pillow yet, it is right up there. I love the variety of different symbols used to represent each different letter in the word Christmas.

And so that you can see the detail better, you can click on the picture to see it up close.

Honestly, this is the type of thing that I would not waste on just a simple pillow. I would put this all over lots of things, but my preference is on clothing. I would love to put this right across a favorite sweater so that I can wear it over and over through the holiday season.

I suppose I could make it on warm comfortable sweatshirts so that my friends that brave the masses during the Black Friday shopping madness would have something adorable to wear.

This is just a perfect example of something wonderful on one craft that can be expanded to a zillion other places and a million other ideas. Have fun with it. Run with it. Take it and make it yours.

Hanukkah embroidered throw pillow

Hanukkah pillow

I have not posted my favorite felt embroidered pillows lately, so I figured I would today. And while I am a little late posting to get this done before Hanukkah began this year, if you are a fast worker, technically it would be possible to get it finished before the end of Hanukkah.

I do love the menorah and the way the felt has been cut and sewn on to replicate the look of melting wax. It is a really nice detail. I have made the photo clickable so that you can see the detail work on the pillow. It is nicely done, and I figure if you are going to try to get one done before the end of the eight days, you are going to need to be able to see the details.

Star Wars ornaments

Oh I wish I knew the name of the Etsy seller that made these! Someone sent me the picture in my email and I just fell over laughing. My Mister would probably love these (well, maybe. I do not know if he geeked out that far yet, but it is possible). Personally, I found them just too precious for words.

And I figure they actually would not be too hard to make yourself if you just could not find the seller on Etsy. You can find the general outline of Darth Vader and the Imperial Stormtroopers just about everywhere. Plus, you can just look closely at the photo for the general outline of the embroidery.

If I ever find the seller, great job! These are a freaking riot.

Make a wish upon a star Christmas stocking

make a wish Christmas stocking

Oh lovely lovely. Christmas is all about dreams and magic and mystery and wonder and fantastical things like this. Wonderful wonderful things like these.

And this Christmas stocking captures some of that magic just right. I just cannot help but hear the Jiminy Cricket song from Walt Disney and want to sing about “When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are, when you wish upon a star, your dreams come true”.

Yes yes, I know that those are little fairies and not Disney crickets running all over this stocking, but still, either way, it would be an easy stocking to duplicate.

Again, it is felt with embellishments cut out in advance. Find a fairy outline that you like in advance and cut out enough to fill your stocking with delight. Remember that you can check the sidebar for embroidery help to get the words and wand sparkles in there.

Christmas village stocking

Christmas village stocking

Now this stocking is just precious. I love the little village. And the cutwork would not take that long to design and piece out. You could design your own little village or even duplicate your own neighborhood or street if you felt like it.

This was made with my current fabric fascination, felt, which of course makes it so easy to put together. Felt just keeps its shape so well, and forgives so many little errors.

I just love the little village church and the village Christmas tree. Now this is one stocking that I think i will be making multiples so that I can share the wealth with friends and family. I just love this idea. Of course it does have that primitive country Christmas vibe going on which I am not so thrilled with, but meh, I still love it.

Only in the South Christmas stockings

cowboy Christmas stocking

Boy, if you really wanted to put some work into it, you could make a set of these for the cowboy in your house.

You know, I live here in the heartland of the South. In the very buckle of the Bible Belt, and I gotta tell you, these do absolutely nothing for me. And that is actually a shock to me, as reigning Queen of the stocking obsession.

And yet I know there is someone out there that will see these and absolutely fall in love and want to make them. I say more power to you and definitely go for it! It seems like adding the seam details makes all the difference in this particular stocking (just like it does on the boots themselves).

The stockings are really nicely made, I must admit. I am just not a Southwestern decorating type of person. But all in all, a nice example for those that are looking for this type of thing.
