Halloween potion bottles (fancy)

I didn’t have time to rant about these yesterday when I ranted about the simple potion bottles. You know the ones. The ones that were being sold for forty five dollars. Well, these were a little more! And all because they had a little twirled metal wire embellishment and a glittered piece of paper attached.Urgh! Come on – I can stop by the scrapbook section of my craft store and pick up the same embellishments and decorate my own got danged bottles. I usually go through a few bottles like this every week, since we cook our own meals around here, so we use up ingredients at a decent clip. That means we have lots to recycle.

And I can hold my own in a graphics program, which means I can look at this picture for a while, and then do my best to imitate it or create something even better.

And I don’t have to waste one hundred dollars between this set and the set of potion bottles posted yesterday. Now I am all for decorating with cutesy adorable items, but come on. I am living in the real world here and we work hard for our money. I wish it was growing on our money tree, but our money tree done died. Broke down and died and it just tain’t been sprouting like it used to. So we don’t do silly things like spend one hundred dollars on six bottles of fake potion. No, we don’t. We take a darned good look, then we make our own, gosh darn it.

I know. You’ll have to excuse me. Sometimes I really get my knickers in a knot over stuff like this. It’s one of the reasons why I started Kattitudes. I just couldn’t see spending the money that was being asked for this stuff when I knew darned good and well that I could make it for a heck of a lot less than was being asked. A heck of a lot less.

And I guess that the benefit is that over the years I have collected so many knicker-knot ideas that it will be a long time before I run out of things to post. So sit back and settle in because I’ll be ranting about making our own stuff for a long time to come!
