Ribbon embellished Christmas stocking.

Gorgeous, right? Wait until you see the matching tree skirt (in the next post, I promise).

This also came from the same store (once a favorite) as the Rudolph the red nosed Christmas stocking, but they were asking near $100 for this one too. Someone in their pricing department had definitely hit the crack pipe on that day. Just no got danged way. That is so over the top expensive for this stocking that I actually find it offensive.

And that is the type of stuff that drives me at Kattitudes. Prices like that and I get my Kattitudes on. This stocking is nothing but – nothing but a cut out stocking from felt (and it isn’t even sewn closed normally! You can see the cut edges. Granted, you could use your really adorable scrapbooking scissors with gorgeous edge scissors – but still, it’s not rocket science sewing displayed here).

Anyway, back to the rant. So, you have the front and the back of the stocking sewn together. And before that happens, you have just plain old strips of ribbon (any kind, any color, any one of the eleventy billion variations out there that you fancy) sewn down in stripes.

This stocking is so easy, my dog could probably pick up a needle and thread and make it! And to charge $100 for it. I ask you! Humph.

Remember, the toe and the heel are just cut out pieces of felt, cut to match the right shape and sewn over the top of the main stocking piece, just like the ribbons were sewn on.

There. You just saved yourself $100. And made what is actually a truly adorable stocking in the process. I love this stocking, I really do. But man – try to overcharge me like that and you really get my engines revving.

We know from the seventeen kazillion posts that I have a wee stocking obsession. We are just now coming into a new stocking obsession season, so you haven’t even seen this year’s crop of lusty worthy pieces yet. Just wait. You’ll be tired of them. But – having said that – is this the year that you surprise everyone with new stockings? They are not difficult to make, and they would be a wonderful pre-Christmas surprise to get your friends and family in the mood for the big day!

Either way, this would be a great stocking to start off the gift making process. Now let me go dig out the matching tree skirt so you can see how wonderful they are together.
