Rudolph the red nosed Christmas stocking.
By now, we have gone over my obsession with Christmas stockings a thousand fold. And we will go over new additions with a thousand more entries as we progress into the new Christmas stocking season.
This adorable entry is a latecomer from last season. When I saw it, I grabbed it, first, for what I took to be the general Kattitudes vibe: something wonderful that with a little study could be made ourselves.
But then, when I saw the price? Oh, that was worth a good laugh. Hovering right around $100? No. Just no. I’m not even gonna dress it up with one of those colorful American south-ism that I find pop out of my mouth at the most inconvenient times, proving I am indeed a Southern girl, maybe not born, but definitely bred. I was stuck on repeat “no got danged way”.
I am not paying that type of cash for something that I know full well that I can keep the picture next to me and create a fantastically passable imitation. And for significantly under one hundred dollars!
Use felt fabric. I love that stuff. There is something about the way it folds and mushes right into place that lends itself perfectly to sculpting this gorgeous face.
Do yourself the favor and create this masterpiece today. Surprise someone with a new stocking this year. What a treasured piece of Christmas history this would be. Pull out your sewing machine, print out the picture so you have a visual template of sorts and go to it.
