Ball ornament wreath.
I love the clean look of these wreaths. Not only the monochromatic pop of color, but the different size of the Christmas ball ornaments.
And more than just that, I love than when I first saw these wreaths, my first thought was not Christmas, but autumn. I keep so many of these types of things on hand because they are the perfect use for all those old ball ornaments I always have rolling around.
By the time Christmas is over, I always end up with at least a box full of ornaments cracked, chipped and scratched. Yet the thrifty side of me doesn’t want to just toss them and create more trash (especially after getting rid of what we so affectionately call “the mountain of greed” or the huge pile of Christmas wrapping papers, ribbons and the like).
These wreaths are built on a foam core as opposed to a grapevine wreath so that the leaves have a place in which to anchor. Then each leaf is put into place (either pinned or hot glued, depending on your preference), overlapping to hide the connection to the foam core wreath.
After the leaves have been put in place, the ball ornament is hot glued into place, using a variation of both sizes and finishes (shiny and flat) on the ornaments. The variations really give us a visual interest and make this wreath just sing, even with the monochromatic theme.
