Rose embellished sweater.
Now I just love plain classic clothes, don’t get me wrong. In fact, were you to look at my closet, you would think (the lace addiction aside) that I was probably an undertaker in a past life. I go for very classic comfortable clothes in my old age.
However, there are times and places that I love and I mean love seeing embellishments on clothing. Gorgeous handmade pieces done all up in beautiful ways. And I love that here in the American southland, embellished clothing seems to be very popular, particularly around the holiday season.
Fortunately, you don’t have to go for schmaltzy when you embellish, as there are literally approximately seventy bazillion different premade embellishments available either online or at your favorite fabric store (if you don’t have the time or the skills to create your own).
I love the way a simple elegant black cardigan was decorated with fabric roses to make the sweater pop. As long as you can thread a needle, you could find yourself a beautiful yet plain canvas (tshirt, sweater, or whatever sings to you first) and add what jumps out at you first.
This would be a wonderful way to give a specialized gift. If you know your best friend loves roses, what a great way to give more than just a simple tshirt for her birthday. Give one with a “necklace” of roses.
In fact, I think I just convinced myself to do this tomorrow!
