Simple embellished throw pillow.

Now here is a great way to embellish a simple throw pillow or to create a splash of color where once there was none.

If you found a wonderful fabric that you adore that you wanted to showcase, this would also be a fantastic way to really show it off.

All we have to do in this case is take a square piece of fabric and sew it to the front of a pillow, then use trim to finish the edges.

If you did not feel like using trim to hide the raw edges, you could fold the raw fabric edge under and stitch it in place.

If you choose to make the pillow from scratch, you could attach the square of fabric yourself before stuffing the pillow, which means you could do all the attachment work on your sewing machine.

All in all, this is a great way to either perk up your decor for the holidays (imagine making a whole room full of pillows with inexpensive fabric that is centered on just one holiday), or maybe making a big box full of pillows to gift to someone this Christmas. That would make a great gift, and honestly, not a very expensive one, since the fabric outlay is pretty minimal (depending, obviously on the size of the pillows you choose to make).

I really like the simplicity of this look, but you could really make a splash with the complexity of the fabric that you choose to use. This might make a great idea to try for someone new on a sewing machine too.
