Jewelry for the pregnant.
Now here is something I haven’t done before; featured something for the mother-to-be. I read about this suggestion years ago during my first pregnancy and really liked the idea.
The concept was that - as much as we do not like to think about it - there are times when we want people to understand that as a woman, we are really pregnant and not (gasp) the alternative.
And, even more importantly, it was suggested that those of us with medical issues (and especially if we already wear medic alert jewelry) find a way to attach a charm that indicated our pregnant status so as to immediately alert medical first responders so we were not given anything that might be dangerous for the baby.
I really liked that idea, and so started making jewelry pieces for my pregnant friends. It is a fun idea for the vanity aspect (the “yes, I am pregnant, not what you think”), but it could also be a life saving piece of jewelry. If, god forbid, your pregnant friend was in an accident and doesn’t immediately look pregnant, but is wearing her “Due In” piece of jewelry (particularly if it is coupled with a medic alert charm), first responders are trained to check for those medic alert pieces immediately.
Remember, these type of jewelry pieces are accomplished by punch stamps ( and I think punch stamps should be kept in every craft supply closet because of the versatility). Or, failing punch stamps, you could hit up your local mall or swap meet where you will find a dozen mom and pop places that will engrave for a couple of dollars.
After that, it is up to you to finish this piece into a gorgeous bracelet or necklace. But either way, it gives your pregnant friend something special to remember her pregnancy, plus something she can pass along to her baby when the time is right, if she so chooses.
