Martha’s spider skirt.
Last year, I searched high and low for this picture. I knew I had it somewhere, but for the life of me, I could not find it. Of course, long after our Halloween event came and went, I finally found it. No matter though, as I ended up using a white crocheted skirt that fought a valiant battle with our washing machine and lost. I pinned small plastic novelty spiders all throughout the crochet of the skirt, so it looked for all the world like a nesting skirt of spiders and became the Queen of Spiders. Even gave myself the creepy-crawlies if the truth be known.
Even though I was pleased with the outcome of my particular costume last year, every year I swear I am going to make this skirt. It is such an easy pattern. White cotton. Black yarn. Stuffed novelty spider. Elastic on the top to keep it super simple. It would probably take you an hour, tops (and that is with interruptions).
I know Martha did not have this anywhere on her site last year, because, by golly, I searched high and low for it. I don’t know if she (or the powers that make those choices) changed her/their minds, but I’m putting up here, because as far as I am concerned, this skirt rocks the Halloween house!

I own this skirt…bought it through her catalog years ago and still wear and love it! The spider web poart is actually piping (sp?) and the spide is embroidered onto the skirt, but I do think you could make it with yarn and a stuffed or iron-on spider. I always get compliments on it when I wear it!
