Needlework topiary.
Taking the time to show a little needlework today. A very simple motif, done again in front of the telly (is anyone surprised?). Really, most of the work that gets done around here is of a multi-tasking nature. The telly is often on, mostly for the noise, and as habits go, plopping down in front is as bad a habit as any. But at least if you keep a basket or bag handy so that you can pull out something to work on, you are accomplishing something worthwhile as you waste time in front of the idiot box.
What I liked about this particular pattern is that it was pretty simple colorwise, so there is no need to have to keep referencing paperwork as you stitch away. If you felt comfortable, you could probably freeform your way into a lovely topiary or twelve all over some nice linens.
Beautiful linens are not that difficult to find anymore (even simple inexpensive ones). But even simple elegant linens can always be dressed up by a nice stitched motif. It’s a nice way for you to put your own style on a set of towels to give as a gift. If you have a signature “thing” (be a flower or animal or seashell or the like), it would be perfect for you to stitch freehand (or by pattern) on a set of hand towels for a best friend this Christmas. And you have plenty of time to get it done before the holiday gets here.
