Christmas ball ornament idea II (glitter dots)

glitter dots ornament

How is this for a super simple way to decorate your Christmas tree ornaments? I know that you can buy glitter glue for literally pennies at the dollar store, and in fantastically wild different colors too. And not just the glue is different colors, but the glitter itself is every color under the rainbow.

Personally, I love the clean lines (or would that be dots?) of the simple reproducing dots that echo the round shape of the ball ornament, but if you felt like drawing lines all around the ornament, that would look wonderful also.

If you want to go with lines and have ever wondered how to get perfectly straight lines on a ball ornament shaped like this one, just place the ornament on a glass or some other vessel. Then using the glass like a turntable, hold your glue/paintbrush/pen/ink/paint/what have you in one hand, and turn the glass in the other.

Voila. As long as you can keep the hand with your writing instrument steady (which I do by resting it on a stack of books), you will end up with a perfectly straight line that goes all around the circumference of your ball ornament.

There. Now you know one of my decorating secrets.

Back to this ornament. This is another that I yoinked from BHG. They had a great series of decorated ball ornaments. Some were beautiful and oh so easy to reproduce and others were not worth the time to grab.

Seeing a series of decorated ornaments was something rare so I was pleased to see it addressed. Ornaments are getting more and more pricey these days, so any way to dress up a tree while keeping costs down is high on the priority list in my book.
