Mosaic coat rack.
While we have never done the mosaic thing personally yet (and we know it always takes a while for something to grow on us. Talk to us in ten years and we will have discovered we love it), we will see the charm in this particular coat rack. However, we completely bypassed the charm mark on the $180 price tag. Yeah, right.
With a price like that, we know immediately how easy it would be to come home and do it ourselves.
It would not even require an official bit of 2×4, instead just a piece of scrap lumber (but finished would be best, if possible). We love the bird patterns, and using a bit of wire (which frankly, you can harvest some old wire hangers for if needed) and tacking them down for the beaks, feet and outline if you so desired.
Definitely a fantastic idea. We could see this go further too. Houses, Christmas trees, baby themes. Simple mosaics on a board. Great way to organize coats, keys, jewelry, towels, toys and just about anything else you wanted to hang here.
Start saving your beautiful broken dishes in an old box. This might be a great rainy afternoon project to try. And it would certainly make a wonderful Christmas present!
