Haunted houses
Love these. If you have scrapbook embellishments, you have all the goodies you need to make these just fantastic haunted houses. I have enough mesh netting stuck around my craft armoire to supply one hundred of these houses, in fabric and in metal. Don’t ask me how I ended up with so much, because honestly, I don’t know. I just did, somehow.
The mesh here is metal, and the wire for the bats and holding the bats could also be scavenged from so many wire castoffs around the house.
I am pretty sure the houses are made from metal, but are willing to bet that if you had some good stiff cardboard around the house, you could replace the metal with that instead. Of course, then again, when you think about how much waste we have these days, I am willing to bet that with very little effort, we could probably come up with a good couple of sheets of waste tin that you could flatten and use to create these haunted houses.
When I saw this photo, I just went gaga for the look and grabbed the shot, thinking “ok, this is something that even if I didn’t go with metal (which for some reason is my favorite decorating medium), I could reproduce this relatively easily”. I just love the whole concept!
And again, if you have little hands around the house, I am willing to bet that if you flashed the photo, you might just inspire a little creativity of your own and end up with a mighty scary haunted house or two (or twelve) decorating your own inspired tablescape before the big night hits.
Why not set out all the pieces today (or wait for the weekend if necessary) and see what you end up with? I just love the hovering bats. I like them enough to actually think about trying to re-create that in a jewelry theme. Hum. Now the creative juices are flowing. What else could I do with that….
