Table linens are something that are not often seen handmade any longer as it is usually so cheap and easy to pick up at the store. however, you cannot often find appliquéd table linens like the one shown here either.

Very nicely done by hand, with enough handsewing to keep you busy in front of the television for a movie or two.

If you planned ahead, there are enough fabric embellishments out there these days that you could pick up crochet flowers (or make them yourself if you are so able) and fill a tablescape full of crochet flowers of different sizes, shapes and colors. Or, if you prefer, you could go with a single theme and color like the one shown here.

Either way, the idea of a little decoration on our table linen really goes a long way when it comes to decorating the table itself. There are times that we enjoy keeping the linen on the table long before and after the meal has come and gone, and sometimes a little ornamentation on the cloth just seems right.

If you are feeling creative, you could actually embellish table linen according to the season or the event. For Halloween, you could use ghosts. American Thanksgiving, you could go with Pilgrims if you are good with a pair of scissors, or stick with autumnal leaves if you are like us. Christmas, there are too many choices. A baby shower, a wedding gift, a birthday present with items sewn on specifically targeted towards your birthday recipient. This has the potential to be a really heartfelt gift.
