Christmas is coming.
It seems so hard to believe when the temperature is supposed to reach 100 degrees in Atlanta Georgia today, but it is true. Christmas is coming.
And whether we are ready or not, people are going to expect gifts, and we need to be planning now and even acting now if we want to be giving handmade gifts.
Look, I know that it is often less expensive to find something cheapo to wrap and pass along, but I want to emphasis the joy in giving. The idea in Christmas is not to find the cheapest easiest alternative, but to think about the recipient of our gift, and to gift something from your heart that speaks to the person that you know and the personality that you have come to care enough about to want to express your regard.
Thus, it is not always required for a gift to actually be a physical item. It can be a job, a date, time spent, a memorandum for the person that you are honoring.
The point being that the gift that you are giving the person in question is not just the material item, but the gift of your time, your thought, your energy and your work.
And that is why I try to make as many gifts as possible. We want people to know and understand our regard, so we give the ultimate gift that we can, which is the gift of US. Our time, our energy, our thoughts and our handiwork.
That is the beauty of handmade gifts. That is why I make as much of my thoughts of regard as possible. And that is why it is time to get cracking!
You have a little less than five months before Christmas morning. NOW is the time to be making your lists and checking them twice, then getting out those projects you have been putting off and getting them underway.
As part of our effort to help, you will be seeing many more ideas geared for Christmas gifts. Because in my life outside the computer, I have been training to be a bench jeweler, you are going to see approximately eleventy billion suggestions for handmade jewelry pieces.
For some reason, no one ever seems to complain too much about having too much jewelry (except for my baby sister, who apparently has an allergy to beautiful jewelry. It must be an illness, that is all I can figure…)
So, Christmas is coming. Let’s get going.

You are so right about Christmas being here before we know it. Can you post some decoration suggestions?

Yes, TK - I have a stock of decoration ideas tucked away. I just have to pull them out (and find them on my amazingly over populated photo storage area!). But fear not, I’ll dig some out.
