Jack o’lantern bags
Halloween is sneaking up on us (and goodness, it is hot enough in the South where Kattitudes is headquartered that all the foliage is already dead and it looks like autumn is is here. It isn’t though, too darned hot!).
Anyway, since Halloween is really just a few weeks away in reality, let’s make sure that we have all of our stuff ready to go. I cannot tell you the number of kids I see walking around carrying a pillowcase. A pillowcase, for goodness sake! Why? In addition to just looking beyond tacky, carrying a mega-sized pillowcase up to our door and demanding that we fill it just seems greedy, frankly.
So, let’s make the entire trick-or-treating experience just a tiny more formal. Stop by your local craft store and pick yourself up an extremely inexpensive tote bag. If you wish, you could dye it to a color-appropriate state, or take the easy way (like we would) and purchase an orange tote bag.
Then, using black scrap material from our rag bag that we discussed earlier, we would fashion ourselves our favorite jack-o-lantern face. Making something like this bag would be so easy that you would not even need a sewing machine to get those pieces on there. You could hand stitch using a quick running stitch to keep the jack-o-lantern face in place.
Simple decorations with practical and multiple uses. If you don’t have a trick-or-treater in your family, what about making one for your and your fitness buddy to enjoy during the month of October? It would easy to whip out a few of these without too much effort.
