Organization.
Today very briefly, we are going to start the organization conversation. Kattitudes announces our organizational deficiency. We make no bones about it, we obsess over organization and we yearn for the symmetry that comes from an organized life. We encourage it. During rare convergences of zen and our lives, we have experienced organization. It is worth the effort.
One of the ways that we work to organize ourselves is by utilizing the technology available to us. For example, just today we purchased a 3 ring binder with the intent to create a notebook for our family. We are tired of the constant nagging feeling of stress surrounding our concerns about preparation for emergencies, so we intend to put that to rest once and for all by creating an end-all-be-all notebook that we will COPY and keep in a safe place like a flash drive or a fireproof safe. Then the original is on hand and used at all times. Finally, if we are in an emergency or unsafe world situation, we now know that all we have to grab is our emergency kits and our notebook.
We are going to set this up so we have one item/area a week to gather information and make that section of our notebook complete. You can do this too! This week, buy yourself a three ring notebook that you love. This is the perfect time to do this, as local stores are flush with back-to-school items. Find yourself an 8 1/2 x 11, 3 ring binder notebook. Spend your creative time this week designing your notebook.
Over the next eight weeks, we are going to prepare written copies of the following to be printed out and placed in your 3 ring binder notebook:
- the basics of your family
- an emergency plan for your family
- health/health insurance information
- insurance as it pertains to your possessions, life and such
- your money matter locations and such
- information for an attorney/preparation for legal issues
- information for caregivers, be they taking care of your home, pet, children, parents or what have you
- finally, information on your house itself and what is in it
By the time we are finished, you’ll have a nice tidy notebook full of answers that tell you, especially during a time of urgency, what you have prepared.
Organization is a key to peace, people. Being organized allows us to let go of our 3 ringed circus and brings calm back to a wild world.
And as a final note, do not forget about our challenge. Before the autumn season begins, get yourself into a first-aid class of some sort. Make it an official class, from someone in an official capacity, so you are prepared for any situation. Make it formal. Get real training to give you some real confidence.
