Halloween felt ornaments
These are great. For those of us that decorate for each holiday, these are just one more thing to try to get made before the holiday gets here.
The basic construction is really easy; a piece of felt and some thread. Boom, you have a little handmade ornament available for either decorating your abode, or a great trim to hand out to someone else that loves the season.
We have a regular Halloween bash each year and these would actually make a perfect accompaniment to the wild theme we run each year. We have seen (and participate) in the madness each holiday season with regard to decorations and I have to say, it is getting out of hand! It used to be crazy to spend twenty dollars on decorations. Then it was insane to spend hundreds. Now people are paying more than that to decorate for one day out of 365 days altogether. It is too much. So I am trying to focus more on handmade items and handcrafted goods.
Here at the house, we have a metal tree that we keep out year round in order to display a particular collection. Amazingly we always have room on the tree to display seasonal decorations (which simply tells me that it is time to expand the collection a little).
One of the additional benefits to keeping this particular tree (in addition to looking wonderful) is that once the tree is full, it is full. It limits the expenditures that way, but also serves to give us something to work towards filling . The size of the tree is perfect in that gives us the chance to have an opportunity to decorate, but also limits how many decorations we put out. It is a great compromise.
