Christmas throw pillows (mitten and hat)

Back after a little break with new throw pillows. I love this execution, and these would be so easy to make! In fact, I kept some of the boxes we used to move overseas with, so that I could make some basic outlines (Christmas stockings, throw pillows, etc) and use as templates for mass production of said items. I try to make enough of my own gifts that I am pumping out Christmas stockings and the like at a crazy rate of speed, so having a cutting template makes sense for me.

Back to these pillows, you can see how easy these would be to make and stuff. Be sure to find the ribbon strips of fur at the fabric store for your accent pieces, and if you feel so inclined to add the embellishments in the center, be sure to do it before you sew your two halves (of the pillow) together. It makes is much easier to finish that way. I do like the little pom-pom puffs at the end of the snowflakes, very cute detail work done there!

Christmas is racing up to us. Stop and smell the pumpkins and the turkey along the way, but do not let it catch you unprepared. I am sitting down tonight with my address book to start addressing cards (but you have to understand – I have been sick the last two holiday seasons, so it was all up to my poor husband to get the nitty gritty detail work done. This year I have to be really ahead of the game in case I end up with the sickies again – god forbid!).
