Briolette (not wire wrapped) earrings

Here is an interesting interpretation of how-to-wrap-a-briolette question. I have enlarged the photo so that you can see the wrapping that was used to anchor the briolette between two hanging chains. At the top of these earrings is a simple french wire finding, with both chains attaching to the hoop at the bottom of the earring finding.

I like the wrapping done here because it does not hide the top of the briolette stone, instead allowing the stone to hang free and dangle in the wind, drawing attention to the stone itself. The picture should be large enough for you to see how the wire was wrapped on itself, much like you would wrap a scarf around your neck and fasten it.

I stick with sterling chains and such, but that is my bias (I am a white gold rather than a yellow gold person). There are enough birthdays and Christmas presents coming up soon that this would make a great gift.

The briolette stones are available relatively inexpensively through eBay, and also through most jewelry supply stores. Semi-precious stones are available for under $10 a stone if you look carefully.

I bought some of the most adorable blue topaz heart shaped briolette stones off eBay myself. Now I just have to find a wire diameter small enough that will allow me to thread the stones.
