Shaped sugar gifts
Sometimes not every gift needs to be completely homemade. For instance, I have been playing nursemaid to my baby sister after her knee operation last week. In order to keep her entertained, a get-well basket is perfect. A favorite DVD, a box of tea, a non-spill tea mug and these sugar hearts are enough to keep her entertained for an afternoon and ready for any other company that drops by to see her.
I bought my sugar molds years ago from Martha, but I have seen them on eBay and at most craft supply stores (my local JoAnns has them). I’ve used the molds for showers, birthdays, holidays and a number of other wild things. I’ve experimented with my mix-in-a-jar recipes (particularly Russian tea or Friendship tea) to try to make single drop-in-the water-and-mix to drink shots with varying amounts of success. If nothing else, they dress up the holiday table something fantastic. I love using just a drip of food coloring too.
