Spider embroidered sweater

[kattitudes.com] handmade gifts

I am still tickled with my Halloween costume last year. It never fails for me in that no matter how much I plan, I never have a finished costume on October 31st. I knew what I wanted and I still didn’t finish it in time.

I wanted to embroider a tshirt with the spider embroidery above, but when my first guest rang the doorbell, I grabbed a favorite old tshirt and destroyed it in the name of high Halloween fashion. I snatched up my black Sharpie permanent marking pen and went to work on some freehand webbing.

Safety pins took care of the extra amount of black plastic spiders my sis meant to decorate with and I managed to put to use the crochet skirt that shrunk the very first time I washed it. Black fuzzy mufflers made perfect spider legs and voila. I had a dinner party to go finish putting out and for the first time, I was actually fully costumed when the guests got to the kitchen. Amazing.

If you want something that you could wear on more days than your costume party, you could pull out your black embroidery thread and have some fun on an old sweater. I really would not say anything if you decided to keep it yourself, but it is going to be an awfully fun gift if you can give it away.
