Ornament stocking

Just because Christmas is over does not mean that we must stop making gifts for the upcoming holiday season (taking advantage, of course, of the supply sales still going on now).

The store selling this stocking again wanted some astrological price for such a simple item. What I love about this stocking is the absolute retro-look that I remember with great fondness from my long- since- passed- and- barely- remembered childhood.

The gold trim is called ric-rac if you are not used to looking for it in a fabric or craft store. The fabric is felt and with a little persistence, you can get enough of these made for the entire extended family before the next holiday season rolls around.

I know that sometimes these handmade stockings look so silly, but I guarantee you, no matter how hard we try to coordinate our entire holiday ensemble, it always seems to be the handmade stuff that gets taken out of wraps and displayed first during each holiday season.

Do what I do - print out a copy of this picture and walk it into the fabric store. You just need to be able to see the photo for your inspiration when you purchase your materials.

This Christmas stocking was very easy to make. I used wool felt, ric-rak, sequins and glass beads to decorate them. They are beautiful. I had to make two, one for each of my daughers. i love this blog…Keep ideas coming.
