Embroidered hanky

Am I the only one left in the world that still carries a hanky? Is it that antiquated a notion? Back in the “used-to” days, one carried 2 handkerchiefs. One to show and one to blow.

Regardless of the fashion levels, I still carry my hankies and have a loverly collection of said. This lovely little number can be done in front of a movie in an afternoon or evening. A little silk ribbon embroidery (have you noticed yet how much I adore silk ribbon embroidery?!), and little running stitch or back stitch to write the name, and voila - you have yourself a gift that is the height of fashion right now - something personalized to your recipient.

Handkerchiefs are not to be stuck in the purse or pocket any longer. Now, instead, they are used to cover the tops of baskets of handbaked goods. They are collected to be sewn together as a quilt top. I just love this little beauty. For those that need to practice their embroidery - my name is Kat. That’s Kat with a K.
