Ornament wreath

old ornament wreath

My new favorite places online are the websites for the estrogen-laden magazines in the grocery store waiting queues. I found this wreath in one of those magazines and thought “wow. 10 minutes waiting for my teapot to boil and I can whip out another wreath”.

I have this bizarre compulsive disorder that will not allow me to throw away anything related to Christmas. What a freak situation…but it does make a gift like this easy to create. I just go to the particular rubbermaid container that I use to store my seven hundred different broken and bent ornaments from past Christmases.

If you start with a foam wreath form and wrap completely with satin ribbon as a base, you can attach all those old ornaments to the wreath. Since obviously you already love the ornaments (otherwise you would have dumped them long ago), you’re going to love the wreath. I am not in love with hot glue, but I know there are people out there that would attach their children’s diapers with hot glue if possible. I’m not one. I’m a wire fiend. I have so much wire tucked around the house, I could probably build furniture with it now. Because of that, I would wire my old ornaments in place on the wreath. But that’s just me. Hot glue works wonderfully and it was what the magazine recommended for the old ornaments in their example.

Thinking of this - I’m going to go dig out my old ornaments and make one of these wreaths tonight. Hey, it will at least give me some room for all the ornaments that get mucked up this year that I just cannot bring myself to throw away.
