Dove stockings

dove stockings

When I saw this adorable stocking in a major catalog and the price they wanted… I swooned. What kills me is that this stocking wasn’t even finished (as in closed seams) but instead trimmed with craft scissors and a simple running stitch used instead. That’s not hard. That can be done by hand!

Red felt for the stocking. White felt for the dove. A basic dove outline that can be found any of the approximate fourteen kazillion places you can find dove pictures during the Christmas season. Boom. Dove of Peace stockings. Go for it - you really can’t ruin a craft like this. And even if you do, the handmade aspect has an appeal that makes people pay outrageous amounts for stockings like this.

I’ll post some more of their crazy- priced- stockings- that- are- so- easy- to- make- that- they- should- be- embarrassed- to- be- charging- that in future entries.

I’m telling you right now. Wool felt is your friend. Very few handmade gifts come out looking tacky when made from wool felt and a good pair of scissors!

Okay, you’ve convinced me. I’ve seen wool felt all over, but wasn’t sure how easy it would be to work with. I’m off to get some this weekend! Thanks!
